About das Berghaus

More than a century ago the Belgium Alpine club was on the lookout for a place in the Swiss Alps. The young Toni, a real mountaineer and experienced ski teacher, was running together with his wife Katy a typical “hut” made out of wood based on the west side of the beautiful Riederalp. From then onwards the Belgium Alpine club decided that their yearly summer and winter holidays would be at Toni and Katy and a real friendship development from that.

Toni took his Belgium friends to the “local” mountains: Junkfraujoch, staying over on the Concordiaplatz, over the Lötschlucke in the Lötschenthal.

The time did not stand still though. Whilst Berghaus Toni grew into a full hotel, the Belgium Alpine Club grew as well and not only with new members but also with the next generation of ski fanatics and of course Toni became their preferable ski teacher.

Again the time did not stand still and Toni became older. He could feel that the time was right for him to go and find a successor.

It is one of those ski fanatics that now with new “friends” is keeping up the tradition of the Berghaus and bring new live into it.

Today Wouter and Fien are waiting for you in “Berghaus Toni” with the same traditions.

The new Berghaus Toni Team (Wouter, Fien, Patrick, Liesbeth, Fem and Sven) trying to keep the old soul of the mountain alive and the “among frieds” atmoshphere were Toni was so famous for.
