ABOUT US

Brit & James

WHO WE ARE

More than 50 Years ago the Belgian Alpine Club were on the look out for a place to stay in the Swiss Alps. The young Toni, a mountaineer and experienced ski teacher, with his wife Kati were running a typical "Berghaus", a hut made out of wood based on the west side of Riederalp. From then onwards the Belgian Alpine Club decided that their annual summer and winter holidays would be spent at Toni and Kati's "Berghaus", eventually known as Hotel Toni, where a real friendship developed.

Whilst Berghaus Toni grew into a full hotel, the Belgian Alpine Club grew as well and not only with new members, but also with the next generation of ski enthusiasts and of course Toni became their preferred ski teacher!

Eventually Toni felt that the time was right for him to find a successor. It is now a couple of those ski enthusiasts that with new and old friends is keeping up the traditions of the Berghaus and bringing new life into it.

Today James, Brit and their family along with the Berghaus Toni Team are waiting for you with the same traditions and values, trying to keep the old soul of the mountains alive with the “among friends” atmosphere that Toni was so famous for.

In December 2019 we celebrated our 10th Anniversary with our annual Opening Weekend shortski entertaining a full house!
